Shot Judge

last night I had a small dream about going to a trial, probably in New york, the trial had already started when I arrived, there was a small box at the back of the small courtroom that read Shot Judge, I sat there and the court room police officer came to my box and placed several law books on the desk infront of me, the box had a desk, while I was sitting down I was thinking about the sign that said shot judge, about how it meant I was kinda like a stand in judge, a supervisor of the event and maybe guarding the safety of the normal judge... maybe the sign read something different then Shot Judge because sometimes in dreams I interpret things in my own way... the officer brought three or two law books, basic reference books... I found a similar judge position only it is called Lay Judge, which is an unprofessional judge who has a vote on the verdict, which is the only job title I could find, but I think I was a shot judge and not a lay judge, a shot by one of its definitions is to make a judgement when there is no clear evidence, I think that fits my position, I followed the trial and if there is no clear evidence for the judge to make a clear verdict the shot judge steps in and has the final word... I think that was what was expected of me, I did feel that even though I was not a professional judge I had a higher herarchy and final word in unclear cases but not when a case was a clear case...
